Walter was a conductor for the Southern Railway. He was also a Baptist minister, and was a pastor at North Knoxville Baptist Church in the 1930s. His wife, Willie Grace, is buried next to him. She was born Sept. 25, 1889, and died Dec. 23, 1969. They were married about 1907, and owned a home at 1517 Worth St. in Knoxville for many years.
