He was the son of the late Elijah and Daisy Sutton of Sampson County. He attended Armstrong School in Cumberland County and Harnett Training School in Dunn. Mr. Sutton was employed with the City of Fayetteville, where he retired after 36 years. He was a member of Pleasant Grove FWB Church, Dunn.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Cape Fear Conference “A” Headquarters, 25 Beaver Road, Erwin, by Pastor David McArthur. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery, Dunn.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary T. Sutton; children, Willie L. Sutton (Renee) of Fayetteville, Donald Sutton (Vanessa) of Eastover, Michael Sutton (Jo-Anne) of Smithfield and Karen Bridges of Fayetteville; siblings, Lureatha Vann, Rosetta Green, Annie Hall and Jean Ray; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Viewing will be Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Conference Headquarters.
