Rex Coffey, 84, of Purdy went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Tuesday January 30, 2018 while at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Rex was born in Purdy on April 27, 1933; the son of the late Furline Frank & Myrtle Marie {Marbut} Coffey. He was united in marriage on January 31, 1963 in Miami, OK to Patty Larkin; she preceded him in death on September 12, 2004.

He was a retired diesel mechanic for Ryder Trucking, transportation director for the Purdy School District and served on the Purdy City Council. He was a veteran of the United States Army and attended First Freewill Baptist Church in Purdy.

Rex is survived by one son: Gary Coffey (Marcia) of Loma Linda, MO; four daughters: Linda Hall-Bowerman (Dale) of Miller, Vickie Hayward (Larry) of Republic, Pamela Coffey of Purdy and Kala Bailie (Ben) of Aurora; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett with Rev. Russ Neill officiating. Burial at Purdy Cemetery.
