Edward J. Ostrich, 93, of Westmont, died January 7, 2018 at his residence. Born March 11, 1924 in Johnstown, son of the late Michael J. and Mary (Jurko) Ostrich. Preceded in death by brothers Francis, Sylvester, William, Robert & Michael, sisters, Marie Rotgers, Rita Scheetz, Therese Roper & Philomena Piskuric. Survived by loving wife Marjorie (Bonholtzer), son Ronald Ostrich, Woodbridge, VA, daughter Sharon Mock (Ron), Johnstown, and son James, Virginia Beach, VA; also grandchildren, Lindsay Mock, Fredericksburg, VA and David Mock (Amy) and future great grandson, Bridgeville, PA, sister in law, Joanne Ostrich and brother in law, Donald Litzinger, Johnstown, and many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his family. Edward was retired from US Steel and a veteran of the US Navy. He was a charter member of St. Clement Church. Friends will be received from 3-7 PM Wednesday at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church, Rev. William Rosenbaum officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery where military rites will be held by Conemaugh Valley Detachment #287, Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963. A special thank you to the staff and caregivers of Windber Hospice for the love, care and support that they gave to Ed and his family.
