A resident of the Ardmore and Southern Oklahoma all of her life, Pearl attended school at Marietta and graduated from Meadowbrook High School, the class of 1942. Moving to Ardmore, she worked at the Duke & Ayres Store and later at the Carter County Courthouse as Deputy Clerk before becoming a full time homemaker upon the birth of her daughter in 1954.
While swimming in the pool at Whittington Park, Pearl met Billy Jack Wallace. They began a courtship, fell in love and when Bill returned from serving in the Pacific Campaign during World War II were married, April 9, 1947. They were married for over 66 years when Bill passed away October 30, 2013. Although it was evident that she greatly missed her husband and soul mate, she did not seek or want people to feel sorry for her.
She, like others of her generation, was a product of the great depression. She knew the importance of stretching a dollar and saving for a rainy day. She believed in self-reliance and instilled a strong work ethic in both of her children.
Pearl was a strong leader in the Wallace family. She was the one that everyone could count on when needed. A very giving and generous individual with a kind heart, she was at her best when helping others. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own.
The hostess and cook for many holidays, family gatherings and picnics, Pearl loved decorating for the holidays. She will always be remembered for her love of Christmas and how special she would make the season each year for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her extended family, during this special time to celebrate.
