Carolyn Janet Ellington Christie Pugh, 86, died Jan. 25 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Ga.

Born Sept. 20, 1931, in St. Joseph, Mo., to M.D. and Alta Ellington, who preceded her in death.

She enjoyed reading and taught her sons to read at an early age. She worked in Moultrie, Ga., and in Columbus, Ga., as a medical transcriptionist, and wrote a handbook for those interested in excellence in the medical profession.

She is survived by two sons, Gene Christie of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Gregg Christie of Largo, Fla., who has been her caregiver for the past six years; and a grandson, Gabe Bergemann of Madison, Wis.

She was the oldest of five children. She is survived by her four siblings: Eugene "Duke " (Helen) Ellington of Kerrville, Texas; Shirley Felter of Independence, Mo.; John (Jo Ann) Ellington of Montreat, N.C.; and Coke (Martha Jane) Ellington of Montgomery, Ala.

Burial is to be on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie, Ga., and a memorial service will be in Columbus, Ga., Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Covenant Woods on Woodruff Farm Road. Later this year a
memorial service will be held in Moultrie. Anyone who wishes to honor her memory other than by flowers may make a donation to Columbus Hospice.
