Frankie Lewis Powell, age 67, an Atoka, OK resident for the past 15 years, formerly a long time resident of Colorado Spring and raised in Shawnee, OK, was born on Sunday, September 24, 1950, to Lewis S. and Pearl Virginia (Gribble) Powell, at Shawnee, OK. Frankie passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at his residence in Atoka, OK.

He graduated from Star Spencer High School and attended Rose State University in Oklahoma City. Frankie was a longtime Deputy Sheriff, worked as a prison guard and Police Chief in Colorado. He was a builder and contractor and worked in Florida, Colorado, Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma.

Frankie proudly served his country in The Army during the Vietnam ear. He was a member of The Church of Latter-day Saints, member of Atoka VFW Post. Frankie loved hunting, shooting guns and riding his motorcycle. He worked as a knife and gun smith, and hand gun instructor. Frankie was very much involved in the remodeling of the local veterans center and being involved in all veterans functions; served as commander of Atoka County Veteran's Council and Quartermaster of VFW 4859.

Frankie is survived by 8 children, Larry Keith Powell of Arizona, Susan Shartel Moraga and husband Julian of Arizona, Stacy Janette Armstrong and husband Dugald of Arizona, Billy Frank Powell of Arizona, Michael Lewis Powell and wife Allana of Colorado, Matthew Geoffery Powell of Colorado, Rebecca Joy Powell of Colorado, Ruthie Joy Powell of Colorado; sisters, Cynthia Pearl Wright and husband Bill of Shawnee, OK, Lisa Sharon Mavity of Cashion, OK, Debora Sue Stithem and husband Rick of Del City, OK; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

Frankie is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Pearl Virginia (Gribble) Powell; sister, Vicki Diana Wofford.
