Joann (Taylor) Green, 80, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at her home. Born in Columbus, Georgia, Joann was a resident of the Syracuse area since 1960. She retired from Syracuse Developmental Center after three years of service. Joann also retired from Syracuse City School District as a special needs teacher after 18 years. She was a member of the National Council for Negro Women and an Eastern Star member.

Survivors include one daughter, Christina Green of NJ; son, Ronald Green of Syracuse; brothers, Bernard Johnson of MI and Sammy Johnson of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 12 p.m. at People’s AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling hour will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the People’s AME Zion Church, 2306 S. Salina Street, Syracuse.
