Edward J. Hanslovan Sr., 84, of Allport Cutoff, Morrisdale, died at his residence Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018.

Born March 29, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Bunyak) Hanslovan, of Grassflat.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On June 4, 1955, he wed Mary E. Albert, who survives at home.

“Ed” or “Pepper” – as many knew him – was the owner/operator of Ed Hanslovan Coal Co., Inc. He was the most family-dedicated and hardest working person we knew.

He enjoyed working, hunting, fishing, golfing, cutting word and cutting grass for his nearby children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (Bunyak) Hanslovan of Grassflat; one daughter, Maribeth (Hanslovan) Seger and one son, Edward J Hanslovan Jr., both of whom were from Morrisdale; and one granddaughter, Jill Leeann Smith.

He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 63 years who provided the best, most loving care a person could ever have received.

He is survived by four daughters, Maria Davic of Grafton, Ohio and Sharon Smith and her spouse, Randy, Lori Hanslovan and Tracy Pennington and her spouse, Dave, all of Morrisdale, and one son, Mark Hanslovan and his spouse, Ronda of Morrisdale.

He is survived by the families of his deceased children, Edward J. Hanslovan Jr. and Maribeth (Hanslovan) Seger. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
