Barry Bruce Anthony, Jr. , 49, passed away peacefully Friday, August 31, 2012 in Virginia Beach. He was predeceased, by his father, Barry Bruce Anthony, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Wilson Anthony, their two boys, Barry Bruce Anthony, III and Clayton Wilson Anthony. He is also survived by his mother Betty Sutton Anthony, his brother Tyler Sutton Anthony and his wife Jacquelyn Taylor Anthony.

Born in Richmond, Virginia and later moving to Virginia Beach at an early age, Bruce was a graduate of First Colonial High School and Virginia Wesleyan College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. He was a member and treasurer of his campus Sigma Nu fraternity. Bruce worked over the years with several Virginia based entities in both management and marketing capacities and was a former member of the Virginia Beach Jaycees. He was a current member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.

As a young man, Bruce was a talented athlete who participated and loved football, baseball, surfing and sailing. He continued to take pleasure in those sports and others over the years, later focusing on his boys' endeavors as they shared his devotion and talents for the sports he had loved so much.

As a Christian, Bruce confronted with grace and optimism many physical adversities over his lifetime. He also knew very well that he was the beneficiary of many, many blessings. He cherished his wife, Lisa and their two boys, who were always his inspiration. He also loved his extended family and friends very much. We are blessed to have had him in our lives. He taught his family so much by his example. We love and miss him deeply and he will forever be in our hearts.

Following a private graveside service for family at the Columbarium at Galilee Episcopal Church, there will be a memorial service for Bruce at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 212 19th Street, at 4:00 p.m. , Friday, September 7, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, 4416 Expressway Dr., Virginia Beach, Virginia 23452. Also, friends have generously created a scholarship fund for the benefit of Bruce and Lisa's sons, Barry and Clayton. Memorial contributions to this fund may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank branch in the name of Barry Bruce Anthony, Jr. FBO Barry and Clayton Anthony. H.D.
