John Wiley (Johnny) Dykes, Jr., age 91 of Athens, TN died early Monday morning January 29th, 2018 at his home in Athens. He was a native of Bacon County, lived in Crystal River, FL for many years and Athens, TN. the past several years. He was son of the late John Wiley Dykes, Sr. and Rebecca Channell Dykes. Johnny graduated from John B. Stetson University with honors, was an insurance company under writer manager, member of Delta Sigma Phi, Kiawanis Club, Masonic Lodge #266, Scottish Rite, University Club, Disabled Americans and had served in the U S Army during WWII.

Survivors include his wife Betty (Betsy) Jo Connell Dykes of Athens, TN., a stepson James Eric Tyree of Richmond, VA., a step daughter Libby Tyree of Athens, TN., three grandchildren Shea King, James Andrew Tyree, Bradley Russell Tyree and two great-grandchildren John Tyler King and Cadance (Cady Beth) Elizabeth King.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 o’clock at Old Pine Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Travis Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church between 1:00 and funeral time at 2:00 o’clock.

Active pallbearers will be Andrew Tyree, Joe Taylor, Kevin Eason, Jordan Sweat, Bobby Douglas and Mike Lee.
