She was the wife of Carl Hanna for more than 72 years; mother to Chip Hanna, Peter Hanna and Candice Sheaffer; mother-in-law to Renee Hanna and Larry Sheaffer; grandmother to Nicole Hanna, Lisa Farese with Michael Farese, Jennifer Zuberer with Daniel Zuberer, Brian Sheaffer with Camelia Sheaffer, Kerri Hanna, and Matthew Hanna; and great grandmother to Karly Farese, Ellie Farese, Mikaela Sheaffer, Riley Farese and Myles Sheaffer.
Whether it was boy or girl scouts, president of the PTA, or president of the Band Parents' Association, Betty made her children her work, and this would remain true with future generations. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren--roles in which Betty could always be seen cheering them on and even volunteering on their behalf as she did through her work at the Nativity Elementary School clinic. And in continuing to lead by example through a love for her community, she volunteered for Dania United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, at the polls during elections, as a Rotary Ann, and as a Pink Lady at Memorial Hospital for 25 years.
Betty will be remembered at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood at 2 p.m. on December 3, at a service open to the public, for the love that she so generously shared with her family and community.
