Alton Mobley, Jr.,age 79, of Felton, passed away January 24, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 16, 1938, in Limestone Township, Duplin County, North Carolina, to the late, Joseph & Leona (Batchelor) Mobley.

Alton served proudly in the United States Air Force, before beginning his career as a furniture salesman for Outten Brothers Furniture for 37 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, cars, dancing, and barbequeing. He was a Member of Delaware Veterans Post 2, Dover, Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge, B. P. O .Elks, and American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandmother, Loney Batchelor, 2 sisters, Nancy Mobley and Mary Elizabeth Rackley, and a brother, William “WJ” Mobley.

Alton is survived by his companion of nearly 20 years, Grace Van Name; his 4 children, Michael Mobley & wife, Marlyn; Johnny Mobley; Erin Guerke & husband Casey and step-daughter Heather Morton; 4 grandchildren Brooke Mobley, Michelle Walls, Ava & Isabelle Guerke; and a great-grandchild, Gabriel Walls-Ortiz.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Delaware Veterans Post # 2, 720 Pear St., Dover, DE. Graveside service will take place in Jeff Lanier Cemetery, Beulaville, North Carolina on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM.
