Mrs. Powers was born Nov. 21, 1904, in Gibson City, a daughter of Ira and Hannah Shoemaker Hess.
She married Lawrence J. Powers who died Dec. 26, 1964.
A son and a half sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Rusmisel, Bloomington, Mrs. Bertha Curry, Fairbury, and Mrs. Margaret Rusmisel, Hemlock, Mich.; a brother, Arthur, DeKalb; and a half brother, John Nieswonder, Bloomington..
A former beautician, Mrs. Powers was a member of Holy Trinity Church.
