James Washington “Jay” Lemaster was born on July 2, 1925 to Miles Everet and Delia Ann (Spears) Lemaster in Stigler, OK. He passed from this life on January 27, 2018 at the age of 92.

Jay graduated from Blackburn High School in 1943 as valedictorian. He then entered the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946 after serving 2 years 3 months and 29 days. He married Virginia Lee Doer in 1944 in Perry, OK. Jay attended college at Oklahoma A & M and graduated in 1949. He worked for OG&E for 37 ½ years in Oklahoma City and Ardmore before retiring on July 1, 1986. Jay traveling all over the OG&E system working in Oklahoma City for 8 years doing relay and control work in substations. He then transferred to Ardmore in 1956 as Southern Region Substation Supervisor and remained there until retirement. Jay had many hobbies interest including camping, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. He served as Assistant Scout Master in Troup 107 in Ardmore and was Explorer Post Leader. Jay was a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Miles Everet and Delia Ann Lemaster; wife of 61 years, Virginia Lee Lemaster; brothers, Lester Enzly Lemaster and Hershall Earnest Lemaster; and sister Hester Ettie Caruth.

He is survived by his sisters Charlene Fisher and Willodean Fisher, both of Ponca City; daughter Sharon Jean Smith of Ardmore; sons James Norman Lemaster and his wife Brenda of Ardmore; Gary Don Lemaster of Ardmore; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and baby Rory on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family, the Fisher’s of Blackburn, OK.
