Jessica Barton Patterson passed away on December 29, 2006 in Texarkana, Texas, after a brief illness.

She was born November 1, 1903, in Clarksville, Texas, to John Chalfant Barton and Nancy Lucinda Garland Barton. After graduating from high school in Clarksville she attended Texas Woman's University (formerly called College of Industrial Arts) in Denton, Texas, earning Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. After graduation she taught for four years at Fairview elementary school in Texarkana, Arkansas. On January 1, 1931, she married Wyatt Nicholas (Pat) Patterson, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1991.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, Texas, since 1940, and past president of its McDuffie Bible Class. She was past president of the Gateway Garden Club of Texarkana; and of the local chapters of the Daughters of the Republic of Texarkana and the Colonial Dames of XVII Century. She was also a charter Member or Life Member of the Texarkana historical Museum; Plantagenet Society; Knights of the Garter; Crown of the Colony (Charlemagne); Magna Carta Dames; Descendents of King William I; Old Plymouth Colony; Mayflower Descendents; Order of Washington; Brewster Society.
