Gilbert Roach Funeral Will Be Held Saturday
Gilbert Roach, 63, local painter and decorator, died this morning at the family home, 303 East Tenth. He had been in failing health for the last three years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon in the Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. L.C. Schwanz, pastor, will officiate. Burial is to be in Grand Island cemetery.
Mr. Roach was born in Jewel county, Kas., Feb. 14, 1889, to Mr. and Mrs. Matthew H. Roach. He came to Grand Island as a boy with his family and completed his schooling here.
He and Miss Reah Brooks were married in Columbus Sept. 15, 1917. They made their only home in Grand Island. Mr. Roach was a private contractor in the painting and decorating business most of his working life here.
Survivors include his wife; one son Billy at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Layton, San Bernardino, Cal., and Mrs. Grace Bischeld, Redlands, Cal. His parents, two brothers, Charles and Vivian Roach, and four infant brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may all from 7 to 9 o’clock Friday evening at the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to the Church of the Nazarene for foreign mission work.
