Obituary for Marjorie Brewer (MacMullen)
Marjorie Brewer, 92, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, retired Psychologist died Friday, November 22, 2013 in Worcester. She was married to the late Edwin A. Brewer. She leaves Bonnie Brewer, Edwin A. Brewer, Jr. (Shirley), Howard S. Brewer of Sutton, MA, C. William Brewer (Susan) of Hilton Head, SC and David D. Brewer (Keely) of Vista, CA and grandchildren, Earl L. Brewer (April), Catherine (Daniel) Singer, Jonathan (Sarah) Brewer, Carrie Brewer, Christopher Brewer and Michael Brewer and great grandson, C. Avery Brewer. She was the daughter of Stanley O. MacMullen and Julia Betts MacMullen of Newton and lived most of her life in Newton, Duxbury and Shrewsbury. She attended Abbott Academy (merged with Phillips Academy) graduating in 1939 and then graduated from Wheaton College in 1943. She earned a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University.
Mrs. Brewer was a Psychologist for the Shrewsbury School System. She was active in numerous civic and charitable organizations and served on the boards of Friends of the Retarded, Edward Street Day Care Center, Opera Worcester and Wheaton Club (Worcester). She volunteered at Wesley Church, Memorial Hospital, and Meals On Wheels. She was a member of the Worcester Country Club, Metropolitan Opera Guild, Women’s Auxiliary of the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology, and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She had a passion for life, a brilliant intellect and enjoyed the arts, music, reading, and traveling. She was also an avid supporter of athletics for which she was awarded an honorary varsity letter by the Shrewsbury High School athletic department.
A memorial service celebrating Marjorie's life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main St., Worcester, MA. Burial will be private in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
