75 of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully at his home
on Monday, January 8, 2018. He was a 1961 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and later served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965. Jim was employed by Myers and Whaley in Knoxville prior to beginning his career at Y-12 National Security Complex in 1967 where he retired after 30 years of service. He was well liked and loved by many.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James C. Sr. and Nancy B. Stutts.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, L. Jeanette Stutts; sisters Eleanor Ann Johnson and Julie Stephens of Alabama; sons Eric Stutts (Patti) and Joe Stutts (Tiffany); daughter Laura A. Stutts; stepdaughters Pamela Smelcer and Kristi Wallis; grandchildren Hali, Brandi, Robbie, and Kyler; and great grandchildren Olivia and Carter James.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at the East Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Arrangements by Cremation Options, Inc.
