Richard Landis, 89, passed away late Friday, January 26, 2018, at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz. Born in Lancaster, he was the last surviving child of nine born to the late Milton L. and Edna (McGinnis) Landis. He was the loving husband of the late Anna (Reeves) Landis, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage at the time of her passing in April, 2010.

Richard worked as a forklift operator for 24 years for Binkley & Ober in East Petersburg, and later in the shipping dept. of Southern Container Corp. in Lancaster, from where he retired in 1993 after 20 years of service. He was a long-time member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren, Manheim.

Throughout his life, Richard was an avid sports lover and a fan of all PA sports teams. Earlier in life he played semi-professional baseball as a left fielder for East Petersburg. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to the American Bowling Conference League. After retirement he developed a passion for golf and played as often and wherever he was able. A huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, he was very much looking forward to watching them play in the Super Bowl, and shared his prediction for the outcome of the game with family and caregivers. On behalf of Richard, FLY EAGLES FLY!

Richard is survived by two daughters, Susan J. Landis and her wife Jennifer L. Young of Columbia, and Linda Landis and her husband Robert of Lititz. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Erin Nicole Allegra and her husband Michael, and Austin Michael Landis; and one great-grandson, Brayden Michael Allegra. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Paul and Buddy Landis, and sisters Ella Mae Spotts, Sarah Landis, Anna Landis, Joanne Schreiber and Jeanie Landis.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of United Zion Retirement Community for treating Richard like family and for the wonderful care and compassion given to him during his stay there.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service which will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Charles F.
