Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Peter's church in Winamac for Stephen H. Crowell of Beverly Shores. The Rev. Robert Roster officiated, and burial was in St. Peter's cemetery. The rosary was recited at the Kennedy & Braman funeral home Sunday night. Mr. Crowell's death occurred Saturday afternoon at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he had been a patient since Sept. 9. He suffered a skull fracture in a fall down stairs at his home. He was born June 26, 1899, in Chicago. His marriage to Miss Alma Selle, former Winamac resident. took place in 1951. A retired Chicago policeman, he was a veteran of World War 1, a member of the knights of Columbus, American Legion and 40 & 8. Surviving are his wife; three children, Donald and Stephen Jr. of Chicago, Mrs Betty Jane Denier of Lansing, Ill.; brother, Raymond Crowell of Hollywood, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Arnold and Miss Rosalie Crowell of Chicago, Mrs. Mac McQueen of Vista, Calif.; three grandchildren.
