He was born on July 28, 1934 in Sneads, FL to Richard and Thelma Clenney. Mr. Clenney retired as a Sergeant from the Florida Highway Patrol after 37 yrs. of service. He was an accident, homicide and background investigator with the Florida Highway Patrol and worked as a weapons and driving instructor at Gulf Coast State College. Mr. Clenney was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Clenney is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Thelma Clenney; brother, Allan Clenney; sister, Justine Priddy; and a daughter, Terri Reneé Clenney Doll.
He is survived by his wife of 39 yrs. Shirley Duane Clenney; daughters, Sharon Bain (Larry), Pamela Roberts (Dave), Sabrina Cook (Mike); sons, Wayne Clenney (Robin), Larry Stevens (Karen), David Stevens (Michele), Michael Cook (Sabrina); sisters, Mary Hartsfield and Jean Sprang; brothers, Albert (Carman) and Billy Clenney; grandchildren, Nicholas Doll, Kira Clenney (Chris Butler), Blake Clenney (Katye), Kimberly Parker (Joey), Trevor Cook (Kayla), Brandon Clenney, Helena Guevara and Heather and Jacob Stevens; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Cayson Butler, Bastian McCullough, Wesley Parker, Waylon Clenney and Evelyn Cook; loyal friend, Ed Doll and caregiver, Midgie Gregorie.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2018 at Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with FHP Chaplain Rudie Guta officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The active and retired members of the Florida Highway Patrol will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
