WINSTON-SALEM 9/12/1961 - 11/25/2017 Mrs. Cheryl Denise Floyd, 56, departed this early life at her home in Winston-Salem on Saturday, November 25, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Hilda M. Lambson and the late Leland D. Lambson, Sr. in Halifax County, North Carolina on September 12, 1961. She was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1980. She then attended Forsyth Technical Community College. Cheryl's work history included positions held at The Burger King, Hanes Brands and APL Logistics. Cheryl became a member and began her early Christian Education at Saint Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. On April 12, 1986, she was united in marriage to Steven A. Floyd at that church. Their union was blessed with twin daughters, Yvonne Cherelle and Yvette Callie. Max, her beloved dog, joined the family in 2017 on Mother's Day. Cheryl was a big Duke University Basketball fan and was in attendance when they won their National Championships in 2010 and 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was also a big NFL fan, loved to watch television and loved working with flowers in her yard. She was known for being an avid lover of shopping. Cheryl was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family and cherished her relationships with many friends. Her infectious smile will long be remembered by all with whom she came in contact. Cheryl was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-one years, Steven A. Floyd; twin daughters, Yvonne Cherelle and Yvette Callie; her loving mother, Hilda M. Lambson; her sister, Angela G. Lambson of Winston-Salem, NC; brother, Leland D. Lambson, Jr. (Judy) of Virginia Beach, VA; mother-in-law, Doris Elliott of Hyattsville, MD; sisters-in-law, Dr. Jannis V. Floyd of Mansfield, PA and Lisa (Donald) Gaw of Clinton, IN; brother-in-law, Daniel Elliott of Silver Spring, MD; her two nieces who were her care-givers during her illness, Dominica N. Lambson and Briana Watson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at The Comprehensive Cancer Center at WFBMC. They made us feel like family as we battled this terrible disease for six plus years. The pharmacy techs, valet personnel, CNAs, Unit Secretaries, Cancer Center Support Program and the many volunteers and others who were with us during our struggle. They will always have a special place in our hearts. We also thank the caring staff of The Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Although Cheryl expressed her desire to be brought home upon her release from the hospital, Hospice nurses, nursing assistants and other staff were at our disposal. A Funeral Service of Love and Remembrance will take place at 2 PM, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. (Clark S. Brown & Sons)
