PORTERVILLE, Calif. - Angela "Angie" Nelson Lane, 49, passed away in Porterville on Friday, June 7, 2013, after a sudden illness. Angie was born Oct. 7, 1963, in Galesburg, Ill., to proud parents Vaughn and Shirley Nelson.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Porterville Fairgrounds located at 2700 West Teapot Dome. Interment will be private.
Angie was raised in Illinois and moved to California in 1970. She graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1981. She married Robert Lane in 1982 and they moved to Porterville in the summer of 1983 with their son Kevin. Angie was always known for her ability to make people smile the moment she walked into a room. She had an incredible sense of humor and was the life of the party with an energetic passion for life.
Angie was a "Mom" to many through her countless hours of involvement with MOPS, Deenie's Dance, Porterville Little League, Sunnyside Elementary, Granite Hills High School Cheerleaders, Porterville Neptunites, Vandalia 4-H Sheep Project, Porterville High School Water Polo and FFA and the Porterville Fair. She had recently had a love for the Porterville Museum as well.
Angie is survived by her four children, Kevin Lane of Porterville, Kristen Camarena and her husband Jonathan of Paso Robles, and Kaitlyn and Kassidy Lane of Porterville. She is also survived by her precious twin grandsons, Michael and Sebastien Lane of Porterville; her mother, Shirley Schmidt; sisters, Sue Nelson and Nancy Lydic of Galesburg and Pam Dugas of Van Nuys; brother, Chuck Nelson of Galesburg, Ill.; half-sister, Kristen Nelson Quinn of Stamford, Conn., and half-brother, Tim Nelson of Altona, Ill. Angie also leaves behind her companion Kim Szypulski of Porterville as well as the father of her children, Robert Lane and his mother Gladys Lane of Porterville. She is survived by sisters-in-law Valerie Herzig and her husband Eric and Deborah Sibner and her husband Gary, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Angie was preceded in death by her father, Vaughn Evan Nelson, her stepfather William Schmidt and brothers-in-law Jerry Nelson and Michael Sturgeon.
