Karen Sue De Rose
June 11, 1945 - December 31, 2017

The only child of Ernest Howard Moore and Muriel Marilyn Cowan born in Altadena, California. A third generation Californian on her mother's side. Her grandparents were Howard William Moore & Ethel Reese, Sidney Foster Cowan & Gladys Marie Harvey. Her great grandparents were William Henry Moore & Marietta Howard. Eliab Reese & Margaret Ann Phillips, John Hugh Cowan & Mary Elizabeth Foster, Elwyn Harvey & Mary Esch. Her 2nd great grandfather C. W. Harvey was one of the founders of Whittier, California and her mother was the 1953 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Queen.

She lived in Arcadia till she was fourteen, when the family moved to Chino for her high school years. They lived on an acre of land where she could have her horse in the backyard. Almost every weekend during parade season, her mother booked her to ride. She rode in parades from Inglewood to Arcadia, Barstow to Indio, Chino to San Clemente. She was the 1962 San Bernardino County Fair & Rodeo 1st Princess, 1962 Chino Ranch Ride Princess, 1963 Chino Ranch Ride Queen and 1964 Chino Lions Club Rodeo Queen. She loved her horses.

She graduated with honors from Chino High School in 1963 and went to work for Pomona 1st Federal Saving & Loan as a teller/bookkeeper. She had other jobs as a grocery clerk, billing clerk, switchboard operator, accounts receivables, and phone order desk. In the middle of her jobs she was the owner of Laughing Lobster Tropical Fish store in Laguna Beach. Of all the jobs, she loved being PBX/Receptionist at Webb Schools, Claremont, California. She was there five years when in 1991 she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus and was put on permanent disability.

Her hobbies were horseback riding, bowling, dancing, fishing, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She had visited the 21 California missions. She had visited the fifty states, the capital cities and capital buildings. She loved to visit Washington, D.C. that we did several times when we lived in Massachusetts.

In late 1970's Karen confide to an Alpha Beta worker three times that "I feel something there is missing in my life." Each time Eleanor responded "I know what that is. You need Jesus in your life!" After the third time, Karen listened to what Eleanor had to say and started going to "Bible Study Fellowship" for six years. Her life didn't get any easier but her faith grew stronger each day knowing that God was with her every step of the way.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, three-step children Dennis, Derenda, and Deana, two granddaughters Heather and Taylor, seven-month-old great granddaughter Braylee. Seven first cousins: Margaret, Allan, Keith, April, Susan Darrell and Gary. Two service dogs: Gypsi & Bear.
