William "Billy" Howard Bernard, age 69, of Mandeville, La., passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Beloved husband of Sharon DiFatta Bernard. Father of Briana Dillard (Brian), Brandon Bernard and Brittany Macbeth (Jerry). Stepfather of Wesley Barr (Nicole) and Sean Barr. Brother of Andrew J. Bernard, Thomas R. Bernard, Judith B.Faulterman and Mary Katherine Malbrough. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, Baily, Brennan, Jayden, Juliana, Vivian, Gabriel and Symphany. A native of New Orleans, a former resident of Algiers, he was a 1967 graduate of Martin Behrman High School. He served in Vietnam as a CW2 Helicopter Pilot, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was a former Welder with Avondale Shipyards, a Flooring and Siding Contractor and was also a Consultant for 7K Metals. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Inspire Church, 69170 Hwy 190 Service Road, Covington, La., on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Southeast La. Veterans Cemetery, Slidell. Donations to Inspire Church at Kingdomproject.org; or Disabled American Veterans Charity, www.dav.org, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
