Belle Higgins, 87, resident of Crowder since 1929, died Thursday in a McAlester hospital. She was born Sept. 28, 1890 in Mississippi and came to Oklahoma in her early childhood. She married William Higgins and enjoyed life as a housewife and mother. She was a member of the Crowder Freewill Baptist Church. Her husband, William, preceded her in death in 1957, as did her son, Rev. L. W. "Pete" Higgins in 1972. Survivors include a son, Robert Higgins of Crowder; two daughters, Lela White of Crowder and Jewell Davidson of Bethany; a brother, Jason Blaylock of Holdenville; a sister, Vera Massey of Anadarko; and two daughters in law, Margie Higgins of McAlester and Christine Higgins of Crowder. Funeral services will be held in Crowder Freewill Baptist Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Earl Jenson, assisted by Henry Lee officiating. Burial will be in Crowder Cemetery. Pallbearers are Elish Cooper, Otto Bryant, Murray Banks, Marshall Rogers, Jewell Hayes and Nub Barlow.
