Grace E. Evans, age 95, formerly of Christiana, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Fairmount Homes, Ephrata. She was the wife of the late Harry Evans who died in 2011. Born in Christiana, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Mabel Summers Erb. She graduated from Scott High School, Class of 1940. Grace was a member of the Christiana Methodist Church and the ladies Sunday School class. She worked at the former Keens IGA store of Christiana. In the past she was active in the Christiana Fire Company and Christiana American Legion Ladies Auxillaries, Christiana Historical Society, Parkesburg Senior Citizens, and Lancaster Chapter of the NRHS. She enjoyed crocheting, roller skating and crafts.
Surviving are 4 children: Karl husband of Pat Miller Evans of Ronks, James husband of Charolotte Evans of Gap, Leora "Toady" Kennel, Virginia Rettew, both of Christiana, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Melissa Evans and two sisters: Marian Stark and Jean Maxwell.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 3 at 11 a.m. at Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, with a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Linda Harnish will be officiating. Interment will be in the Glen Run Cemetery.
