Lessie Sue Askew, 87, of Sheffield died at home, after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, February 28, 2004
Her visitation will be Monday, March 1, 2004 from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, followed by her funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Shaw Cemetery in Leighton. Brother Mike Noles, her grandson-in-law will officiate.
Mrs. Askew was a native of Town Creek and lived in Sheffield for 65 years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was an employee of South Central Bell for 35 years where she served as switchboard supervisor. She was a member of CWA Union and Pioneers of South Central Bell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Clifford W. Askew.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Allen of Sheffield; her son, Danny Askew of Sheffield; sisters, Reba Draper and Helen Richie of Florence and sister-in-law, Irene Gowers of Sheffield, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff Askew, Matt Allen, Jason Askew; grandsons-in-law, Dan Jackson and Heath Gregory; nephew Tommy Gowers.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to A & E Hospice, Dr. Bowling and staff for all the wonderful care Mrs. Askew received.
