MUNCIE – David J. Baker, 76, of Muncie Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 peacefully at home with his family by his side.
He was born August 23, 1941 to the late John and Dorothy (White) Baker at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, IN.
He worked at Chevrolet/GM for forty-three years, known for the Muncie Rock Crusher Transmission. David retired in 2002.
He enjoyed playing golf with one of his best friends, Dave Kennedy, playing some spirited games of ping pong with his good friend, Dave Ross and he also enjoyed bowling. He lived in Florida for six years enjoying time with his family.
On August 23, 1968 David married Anita (Hiatt) Baker. They were married for forty-nine years.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; two siblings, Jim Baker (wife, Lydia) and Janet Baker. He was a wonderful father to five children, Diane Baker, Jana (Bailey) Reinke (husband, Mark), Denise (Baker) Butler, Stephen L. Bailey, Kurt Baker (wife, Diane); grandpa to eight grandchildren, Brad Reinke (wife, Amanda), Kara (Reinke) Mooneyhan (husband, Barak), Carissa Norman, Briana Butler, Brennan Baker, Kayla Baker and Faith Bailey; great-grandchildren, Van Allen Norman and Jordyn Nicole Reinke and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Baker; brother, Donald Baker; and granddaughter, Amber Baker and son-in-law, Rodger Butler.
