Jimmy K. Dean, 80, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully January 25, 2018 at home with his family.

He was born in Coeburn, Virginia October 16, 1937 and lived most of his life in Kingsport, TN. He was raised in Dante, VA and attended school in Castlewood, VA, where he graduated in 1956. Jimmy married Judy Fraley on May 5, 1960. He worked as a janitor at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport before getting hired at ASG (American Saint GoBain Glassplant) now known as AGC in Church Hill, TN, where he retired after 38 years of dedicated service. Jimmy was a loving humble man that loved his family. He was very passionate about his church New Covenant and serving the Lord. His favorite pass time was spent playing the guitar, singing and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lula (Lou) Dean, his father, Pat Dean, and brother, Frankie Dean.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Fraley) Dean: sons, Ricky Dean and Kenny Dean (both of Kingsport, TN); daughter, Gina Burry and husband, Richard of Great Mills, MD and daughter, Becky Helton and husband, Phil of Kingsport, TN; his sister, Helen Dean of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Keith Helton, Jimmy Williams, Megan Burry, Kyle Helton and Amber Smith; four great-grandchildren, Bradley Steadman, AJ Williams, Landon Steadman and Jackson Smith; extended family, Randall and Darlene Gortney, and Virgie Christian.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, 117 E Charlemont, Ave, Kingsport, TN. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Woody Wyatt officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Church Hill Memorial Gardens. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family requests contributions toward expenses in lieu of flowers.
