Harold was raised in a Christian home and remembered riding in a horse-drawn carriage to church every Sunday morning with his family. When he married Donna, he introduced her to his Christian faith and she learned to love the Lord, too. They were both active in the Baptist Church and involved in mission work for many years. They had 5 children-all of their names starting with "J" (Judy, Jean, John, Jenny and Jeanette). They loved children and for many years cared for foster children in their home. As they grew older, they learned how to square dance and had great times dancing with their friends. They loved to fish and spent several summers in Alaska fishing for salmon with Donna's sister.
For the past 5 years, Harold resided in Missouri City with his daughter, Jean Pirtle. He is survived by his 5 children: Judy Freitag of Milford, Michigan; Jean Pirtle of Missouri City, Texas; John Adams of Nashville, Tennessee; Jenny Adams of Newnan, Georgia and Jeanette Fuller of Newnan, Georgia. He has 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Harold and Donna were married 69 years before she passed away 2 years ago. At the age of 97, Harold expressed that he was ready to meet the Lord and finally be with his family that arrived in Heaven before him. He had a long and blessed life. His family will miss him greatly, but rejoice in his salvation. Harold will be buried alongside his beloved wife at Houston Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
