Bertha Teresa (Mandl) Scott, age 84, formerly of Stanton, died Tuesday Jan. 23 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community in Blair.

She was born Aug. 21, 1933 in Stanton, the daughter of George and Hanna (Jensen) Mandl. She attended Stanton public schools. On Oct. 26, 1950 Bertha married Walter Scott at St. Peters Catholic Church in Stanton. The couple made their home in Stanton. She worked several jobs over the years but her favorite was preparing food and catering meals at the Stanton V.F.W. Club. Her memberships include lifetime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church; St. Peter's Altar Society; V.F.W Auxiliary; Busy Bells; Stanton Bronco Wrestling Club; Stanton Booster Club. Bertha's hobby was volunteering. She would volunteer to work the Stanton County Fair, all kinds of activities at the Stanton V.F.W. Club, playing bingo at the Norfolk Veterans Home, driving friends and family to appointments. She volunteered for every event she could at St. Peter's Catholic Church. She just Loved helping people!! Bertha loved her family and enjoyed following all her kids and grandkids activities. She was also known to turn a whole weekend into a fun cooking and baking experience with her grandchildren. They would bake enough goodies to feed all of Stanton.

She is survived by her four children Kathy and Dave McKinnis of Blair; Steve and Joyce Scott of Arlington, Wash.; Mike Scott of Stanton; David and Kasey Scott of Blair; ten grandchildren Jamie Cueva, Jeremy McKinnis, Bobby McKinnis, Bryan McKinnis, Ryan Scott, Charity Husser, Megan Scott, Chasity Koehlmoos, Angelina Scott, Bria Scott; nine great-grandchildren Jacob, Isaac, Ethan, Mateo, Madeline, Benjamin, Boston, Claire, Constantine; one sister Irene and Ted Weisensee of Byers, Colo.; three brothers George and Sandy Mandl of Stanton; Dale Mandl of Stanton; Joe and JoEllen Mandl of Stanton; sister-in-law Karen Mandl Schmode of Pierce.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband of 58 years, Walter Scott in March 2009; one infant son; one brother Duane; one sister-in-law Betty Mandl.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton on Saturday Jan. 27 at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at Stanton Cemetery with meal to follow at St. Peter's Parish Hall. Visitation is Friday Jan. 26, 4-7 p.m. with 6:30 p.m. Rosary at Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.
