Logically Math L. Kirk's full name was Matthew after his father but he was always called Math. His mother Hulda Jones Kirk died in May 1871 in Neshoba Co., MS. His father and siblings, along with his married sister, Lenora and her husband James Taylor came by wagon to the Hopkins County, Texas area and settled.
Here Math Kirk married Ora C. Newsome whose family was also from Mississippi. (His death certificate incorrectly has Ora listed as his mother).
Math & Ora had at least seven children: Ancelin A. "Ance", Charles Luther, Russell S., Silas Houston, Willis A., Thomas George, Dock V.
Most of this family are buried in Union Cemetery.
