Robbie Lee Criss McDonald, 78, of Galveston, Texas, passed into glory on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Pearland, Texas.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27 at 11AM at Good Shepard Episcopal Church in Friendswood, Texas with a reception following in Sterling Hall. All are welcome. The Rev. Geoff Gwynne officiating. Burial/Interment will follow at a private family service at a later date.
Robbie was born in Galveston, Texas on September 9th, 1939 to John and Evelyn “Chick” Criss.
She graduated from Ball High School and went on to attend Sam Houston State University. She was a teacher at St. Barnabas Episcopal Day School in Houston for 13 years. Robbie was involved in many charities and was the volunteer Director since 1985 at Christian Helping Hands.
“Scripture says we need to feed the hungry and the poor…Don’t we all want to do that?” Robbie once said. She had a servant’s heart and was known for her kindness and humor. She was very active as a member of Good Shepard Episcopal church serving as a vestry member, on the alter guild and prayer team. She enjoyed reading, embroidering and combing the beach. “I have sand between my toes, and love the history of Galveston and love the smell of salt”.
Robbie is preceded in death by her father, John Criss, mother, Evelyn Criss, husband, Jefferson “Mac” McDonald, and sister, Joyce Rawls.
Robbie is survived by her sister, Rita Scheer of Pearland, Texas, daughter, Zoe’ Cornwell and her husband Randy of Katy, Texas, son, Rush Crow of Pearland, Texas, grandson Zachary Cornwell and his wife Audrey of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter Skye Cornwell of Denver, Colorado, and granddaughter Shaeli Crow of Rosenberg, Texas and many other family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christian Helping Hands or Good Shepard Episcopal Church.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice, Good Shepard Episcopal Church, and the many friends of Robbie.
