1st Finland President. A member of the National Progressive Party, he played a central role in the drafting of the Constitution of Finland in 1919, and served as its first President from 1919 until 1925. Among his awards and honors include the Grand Cross of the Order of the White Rose (Finland), the Grand Cross of the Order of the Cross of Liberty (Finland), the Cross of Liberty (Estonia), and the Order of the Three Stars (Latvia). He died at the age of 87.
