Verna was well known with her husband in the Cork community as a farming family growing strawberries and various other seasonal crops. After retiring from farming, she entered into the Chicken Farm for Eggs business; however, not slowing down, she continued gardening and her pride was being lovingly called the "Sunflower Lady" by family, friends and neighbors for the wide variety of sunflowers she grew. She attended Cork UMC and after her sister, held the second longest membership at 88 years.
Verna was not blessed with children of her own; however, is survived by her two nieces, Jo Harris Sink (Carol), Lila Harris Pelham (fiancé, Ron); and one nephew, W.H. Harris Jr. (Beverly); along with four great nephews, two great nieces and many great-greats.
A visitation will be at Wells Memorial on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 3pm-5pm. A funeral service will be at Cork UMC on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1pm followed by burial at East Oaklawn Cemetery, Plant City.
