Heiress, Socialite, Philanthropist, Daughter of Marie Stokes and Albert Carlton Bostwick she was married first to Robert V McKim in 1928 and secondly to Ogden Phipps in 1937. She had four children by her second marriage: Ogden Mills Phipps; Cynthia, Lillian and Florence. She attended Miss Spen's School and Miss Joseph Hoffman's School in Aiken, South Carolina. A leading figure in horse racing for decades, she was also significant patron of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and a member of the board from its founding until her death. She served as chairwoman of its board in 1972 when she succeeded Margaretta "Happy" Rockefeller wife of then Governor of New York Nelson Rockefeller. A prominent figure during the Saratoga summer season for decades, she owned a stable of steeplechase horses. A client and friend for many years of her interior designers Denning & Fourcade, Robert Denning kept the fragrance Sous Le Vent, which she always wore, in his automobiles. She died at her home in Summerville, South Carolina.
