Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Reverend Gary Westgard officiating.
Music will be provided by vocalist, Pete Bisgard accompanied by A.J. Sherrill.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Interment will be at the Bergen Cemetery, Codington County, SD.
Pallbearers will be Ron Bergan, Steve Zirbel, Jerry Bergan, Joe Bergan, Lucas Jens and Arlen Murphy.
Mildred Irene Stee was born on February 11, 1920 to Torsten and Bertha (Ness) Bergan in Codington County, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm in rural Codington County, along with her nine siblings. Following her graduation from Florence High School in 1938, Mildred attended Cosmetology School in Rapid City, South Dakota. As a hairdresser, she operated her beauty shop out of her farm home.
On December 17, 1940 she married Manford Stee in the Bergen Lutheran Church in Florence, South Dakota. The couple lived on a farm in Day County and together they raised three daughters. After leaving the farm, Mim and Manford moved to Waubay, SD to the home that her husband built. Manford passed away on December 2, 1983.
Mim was a beautiful pianist, playing entirely by "ear". She sang, along with her daughters, in earlier years and also in church choirs. Mim raised beautiful flower gardens. She was a friend to many and loved by many, especially caring for those less fortunate.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Karen (Loren) Petersen of Bennington, NE, Kathi (Don) Bisgard of Great Falls, MT and Kris Jens of Fargo, ND; one sister, Ardis Zirbel Sweezo of Florence, SD; five grandchildren, Holly Estwick, Missy (Kris) Hameline, Lucas (Katie) Jens, Abby (Matt) Clegg and Tess (Andrew) Week; six great-grandchildren, Sara (Joseph) Vetter, Jordan Hameline, Charlie Jens, Mathew Clegg, Grace Clegg and Leighton Week.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Marie Sikkink; and seven brothers, Norman, Carl, Robert, Harry, Thomas, Alf and Howard Bergan.
