CONYERS, Ga. — Mary F. Lockwood, of Conyers, Ga., formerly of Pleasant Valley, passed away after a short illness on January 18, 2018, at the age of 101. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Nina Blakley; husband, George Lockwood; two sisters, Mona Loss and Helen Anawalt and two daughters, Sandra Batten and Karen Bergert. Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Brown; grandsons, Mark Pickering, Rob Brown and grandson, Austin Ruffin, all of Conyers; son-in-law, Wayne Batten; and close family friend, Jenny Ward of Bettendorf.

She was a devoted wife and mother and was involved in many school activities in Pleasant Valley including past presidents of PTA Pleasant Valley, Scott County Council of PTA (Iowa); life member of PTA. She also was a great costume designer and maker for many school activities and dance recitals.

She belonged to DAR, Hannah Caldwell Chapter, for more than 40 years and enjoyed holding many different offices: Regent, Southeast Director, Chairman of five state committees; National Vice Chairman of five committees and attended 17 Continental Congress in Washington, D.C.; Past President of New England Women; National Historian General of Continental Society Daughters of Indians Wars; Past State President of Daughters of Colonial Wars and Dames of the Court of Honor; and Parker Law. She was a long-time member of the Powshiek County (Iowa) Historical Society. She belonged to Abiding Grace Lutheran Church in Covington, where a memorial service will be held on February 15, 2018, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Scharf. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Scot Ward Funeral Home, Conyers, Ga.
