Our beloved one Ethel L. McCree, lovingly known as "E," was a loving sister and cherished friend to many. She was one of four children born to John William, Jr. and Cora L. McCree. She received Christ at an early age and joined Laster Chapel United Methodist Church (her families church) where she served and remained a member for the rest of her life. As a youth, she was a member of the choir and President of the MYF as a youth. In later years, she served on the Trustee Board, was a member of the 55 Something organization, and was a faithful member of the Adult Bible Study Class. Ethel received her education in the Fulton County School System, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta. She then attended Clark College (now Clark-Atlanta University) where she completed the Red Cross Home Nursing course in Home Care of the Sick. Upon her graduation from Clark with a major in Elementary Education, she became employed for the Fulton County Public Schools for 41 years before retiring in 1994. As a teacher, she ignited a desire for excellence in all of her students. She also was a life-time member of the PTA. Ethel was hard-working, had many diverse interests and talents, and always had a dream for a better world. She found great joy in reading poetry and penned several poems herself. She had a real love for cooking and always had a long list of orders for cakes, sweet potato pies, cornbread muffins, and many other food items. McCree was always willing to share and give of herself. She and her sister Bernice provided in-home care in the home they shared for several families. She loved dogs, and made sure hers received the best of the best. Also, many stray cats found a loving home at the McCree residence. Ethel strongly supported her niece, Theresa who she helped to raise and preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Weldon, Hiram and Dr. Otis William McCree. Ethel L. McCree departed this life suddenly to the shock of all on March 24, 2007. As Ethel leaves this earthly home to enter eternal rest, she leaves among those to cherish her legacy and memory her loving and devoted sister and best friend, Bernice. Three goddaughters, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and devoted friends. We commend "E" to the serenity, peace and the blessing of eternal life.

I am grateful for everything I have;
I enjoy my possessions, but I am not possessed by them;
I enjoy prosperity, and I am glad to spend as freely as I receive;
I share what I have and always have more than enough to share for its right and good use;
I bless all that I have, all that I receive, and all that I give.
