Joseph Donald Cissell, 78, of Bardstown, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Baptist Health Care in Louisville. He was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Nelson County to the late John Fehan and Minnie Elizabeth Hicks Cissell. He was a former supervisor for Jim Beam Distillery of 40 years, a graduate of St. Joseph Prep and attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Bronia Mattingly, Lillian Bickett, Juanita Hagan and Rita Delaney; his twin brother, James Ronald Cissell; and Clyde Smith, Lyman Smith, Fr. Harold Smith and Check Cissell. He is survived by his wife, Norma Crowe Cissell; two daughters, Kristie Michelle McKown (Stefan Runde) and Tammy Linn(Stacy) Lee, both of Bardstown; two sons, Donald Keith (Debbie) Cissell and Timmy Cissell, both of Bardstown; six sisters, Teresa Ayers of Miami, Fla., Lunette Newton and Joan Ball, both of Louisville, Margie Collinsworth of Ohio, Sister Marie Smith SCN of Nazareth, and Louise (Leon) Simpson of Bardstown; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Smith of Illinois, and John (Judy) Cissell of Bardstown; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service is 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Deacon Sam Filiatreau officiating. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
