Passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018. She was 85 years old. Amy was born Sunday, August 14, 1932 to Claude and Elsie Lee (Simmons) Mason in Marshall County, West Virginia. She was married to George S. Peters on August 15, 1949. Amy was devoted to her family and always provided a warm, loving home. She worked side by side with George as they built Peters Piano Service, started by his father, A. Jay Peters, and continued as a third generation business by their son, Terry Jay Peters. According to her children, she was always the prettiest Mom. She believed in fairness and honesty and instilled those values in her children. Amy was a wonderful letter writer. Everyone who was fortunate to correspond with her felt like they were having a conversation at her kitchen table. She was active in scouting, as well as volunteering in her childrens schools and the familys neighborhood and community. Amy enjoyed watching football and following the sports teams of St. Louis & Swan Valley, as well as CMU, MSU and WVU. She also enjoyed reading, nature, traveling with her family and being a homemaker.
Surviving are her children, Claudia Lee (Thomas) Mabie; Terry Jay Peters and his special friend, Sharon Keene; as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding Amy in death were her parents, her husband and her brother, Claude Gibson Mason.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Visitation will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. A private burial service at Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd, Michigan will take place at a later date. Memorials in Amys name may be made to the Saginaw County Animal Shelter, the American Lung Association or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
