Longtime Lake Havasu City resident Jim Twomey, age 90 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his five children. Born in Bloomington, Ill. Jim was part of the "Greatest Generation" and was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943, and served in both France and Germany. Upon his discharge in 1946, Jim attended the University of Notre Dame where he graduated in June 1950. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary Jane (Hiss) Twomey and they were married, Oct. 7 of that same year.

Jim and Mary Jane first moved to Houston for several years, eventually moving back to South Bend, Ind. to be closer to family and friends. During this time, they enjoyed going to see the "Fighting Irish" Notre Dame games, then attending cookouts at family homes following those games. In the early 1960s, Jim and Mary Jane along with their five children relocated to Los Angeles. Jim worked in the aerospace industry for almost 30 years, retiring in 1986 from Hughes Aircraft Corporation.

They retired to Lake Havasu City in 1987, where Jim was active in a number of local community groups including the Lake Havasu City Friends of the Library, where he served as president for several years. He was also active in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane (who passed away eight days after him); his children Tim, Mike (Carolyn), Pat (Jane), and John (Lorinda) and Mary; grandchildren Kelly, Jackie, Courtney, Jeff, Elaine, Kelsi, and Cameron; and great-grandchildren Aiden, John, and Conor.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1975 Daytona Drive, Lake Havasu City with final internment at Lake Havasu Garden Memorial Park.

Following the services, there will be a gathering of family and friends at their home in Lake Havasu City.
