Thomas F. “Tommie” Merritt, 83, of Ranger passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 25th at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 24th.

​Tommie was born December 21, 1934 in Palo Pinto County to Thomas Franklin Merritt and Nettie Elizabeth (Handley) Merritt.

He was a well-known and loved member of his community.

He never met a stranger.

Tommie married Faye Burrow March 4, 1967 in Cisco, Texas.

Tommie is survived by his loving wife, Faye Merritt; sons, Scott and John Burrow; daughter, Lisa Reason; 4 grandchildren, Bennie Burrow, Aaron Borchard, Daniel Borchard, Katie Reason; and 8 great grandchildren, Jayton, Justin, Shelby, Jordon and Nettie Richardson, Sierra and Ally Borchard, Zaelynn Sharp and the many others who he welcomed into his home and raised as his own.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Thomas F. Merritt’s name be made to St Jude’s Hospital Research.
