SIERRA VISTA — Jimmie Earle Parker, 69, of Sierra Vista died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.
Jimmie, son of the late Hertford and Mary M. (Gilbert) Parker, was born in Greenville, North Carolina, on March 21, 1948.
He was educated in Detroit, Michigan, and he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.
Jimmie served his country for 20 years, and during the Vietnam War with the United States Army Special Forces attained the rank of Sergeant.
Upon his retirement from the Army, he served as postmaster for 15 years in Weisaben, Germany.
He was a member of the VFW Post of Sierra Vista and was an avid pool shooter.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was also predeceased by a brother, Hertford Parker, Jr.; son, Lovon Parker; brother, Gary Parker; and sister, Beverly Tyson.
He is survived by his wife, Annette C. (Campbell) Parker; two sons: Andre Parker and Rohaine Moore; three daughters, Yasmin Barker, Kameka Roache, and Tisan Doctor; two sisters, Betty Little and Sheila Taylor; and two grandchildren.
Chapel services with military honors will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, AZ.
Hatfield Funeral Home, Sierra Vista, is entrusted with the arrangements.
