Dawn Ann Sexton of Elizabethton, TN passed away on January 20, 2018, following a brief illness. Dawn was born May 26, 1966, in Long Island, NY to the late Alois Schepp Commerdinger and "Nip" William Commerdinger of New Hampshire.
Dawn moved to New Hampshire from New York during her senior year of high school, then moved from New Hampshire to Tennessee in 1990. She graduated from Newport High School in 1984 and married Dwayne Sexton on June 7, 1986. Dawn worked at TPI on the paint line as a line leader, and loved her job. She enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, baking, cake decorating and most of all, she loved being a mom and a grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Christensen.
Those left to cherish her memory, in addition to her father, include her loving husband of 31 years, Dwayne Sexton, of the home; her children, Nicole Jenkins and husband Tim (28), Michael Sexton and wife Ashley (26), Samantha Sexton (14) and Jacob Sexton (9); her siblings, Sandy and Tony Hatchett, of George Mills, NH, Noreen Roth, of Newport, NH, Buddy and Michelle Commerdinger of Ronkonkoma, NY, Linda and Ritchie Jones of Daytona Beach, FL, Chris Christenson (and the late Judy Christenson) of New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Alexander Jenkins (6), Ava Jenkins (2), Jubilee Sexton (1) and Jensen Sexton (due in March) Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Dawn A. Commerdinger Sexton will be conducted in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, TN.
The graveside service will be conducted in the Ritchie Cemetery in Elizabethton, TN.
