Robert C. Nicholas, age 85, of Perry Twp., passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born September 28, 1932, in Hamilton, Ohio the son of the late Hiram and Helen (Issenmann) Nicholas. Robert graduated from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio and served in the US Army. Robert retired in 1998 from the Quality Castings Co. of Orrville, Ohio after 41 years of service.

He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he was an Eucharistic minister and an usher; a member of the Order of Secular Franciscan, Eucharistic Fraternity of Sancta Clara Monastery; Knights of Columbus 4th Degree; the Holy Name Society. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, sports, traveling, and swimming.

Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy (Knechtges) Nicholas; sons, John Nicholas, Paul Nicholas, Thomas Nicholas, Patrick Nicholas; daughter, Mary Roseman; brother, Richard Nicholas; sisters, Eileen Landers, Rita Gibbons, Ann Baumgartner, Mary Besancon; grandchildren, Mary, Mike, Ana, Andrew, Connor, Kaelyn, Mickey, Zara, and Natasha. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony "Tony" Nicholas and sister, Jean Bohlen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4940 Tuscarawas St W., Canton, Ohio 44708, at 10 AM with Rev. G. David Weikart celebrant.

The family welcomes all to attend a Franciscan Wake service at the Church at 9:00 AM. Visitation to follow until the 10 AM Mass with a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. Burial to be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44273 at 2:30 PM.
