Lib was born in Columbia, SC on December 6, 1946 to Elizabeth Walker Fensel and the late Francis Peter Fensel, both of Wilmington.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Campbell Hobson of Wilmington, son Robert Walker Hobson and wife Kate, of Raleigh NC, brother Francis Peter Fensel, Jr. of Wilmington, sister Margaret Fensel Palmer of Wilmington. She is also survived by her nephew Harrison Whitner Palmer, of Wilmington, stepson Michael Campbell Hobson and wife Lauren, of Raleigh, stepdaughter Kristin Hobson Albertson and husband Bryan of Rome, GA and 4 step-grandchildren, Peyton Albertson and Jack Albertson of Rome Georgia, and Ann Campbell Hobson and Piper Hobson of Raleigh, NC.
After graduating from New Hanover High School, she attended Marjorie Webster Women's College in Washington, DC then The University of South Carolina. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh at the 1965 Debutante ball and was an active member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of North Carolina.
Lib was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending weekends and large family dinners at her family cottage on Wrightsville Beach. She also cherished her close friendships and was known to spend hours on the phone most evenings chatting with them. Lib adored all of her dogs over the years, and was easily spotted driving about town in her oversized sunglasses with Mugsy and Hilly riding along.
