Vernon Allen Christien Little, 92, of Little Sioux, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Per Vernon's wishes cremation will take place. There will be no services held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Vernon Allen Christien was born on September 6, 1923 in Little Sioux, Iowa, the son of Fred and Margretha Little. He grew up in the town of Little Sioux where he attended school.

Vernon and Virginia Kaufman were united in marriage on March 2, 1972 in Onawa, Iowa.

Vernon did well work, plumbing, was employed at Wilkinson Manufacturing, and various other jobs including driving school bus for Little Sioux. He also farmed near Pisgah and Little Sioux. He retired in 1982 and moved back to Little Sioux.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, and attending sales. He was an avid junk collector, avid baseball player, and also loved to play cards. Vernon was a crafty guy always building something.

He was a dad to four girls when he didn't have to.

Survivors include his wife, Virgnia Little of Little Sioux, IA; five daughters, Debra Cobb of Carter Lake, IA, Nancy (Dale) Williams of Dunlap, IA, Karen (John) Iversen of Pisgah, IA, Shelley Stewart of Little Sioux, IA, and Kristi Ruffcorn of Blencoe, IA; five grandchildren, Rob (Beth) Williams of Manning, IA, Michael Williams of Neola, IA, Danial Williams of Neola, IA, Stephanie (Donald) Sanders of Council Bluffs, IA; and Erik (Megan) Stewart of Omaha, NE; seven great-grandchildren, and special friend, Dee Briggs of Council Bluffs, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Ranea Burbridge, two sisters, and one brother.
